TOOLING DESIGN AND PRODUCTION
TOOLING DESIGN AND PRODUCTION FACILLTY – As many manufacturing sectors de-skill and turn to out side sources for technical projects, the PAL Group continues to invest in its state of the art in house extrusion tooling design and production facility. Designing and manufacturing our own tooling allows us to invest that little extra on tool quality, line speed and custom details such as co-extrusion. All of our tools are made to the highest standard and not just to a budget. The Benefits of high product quality, long life tooling and faster production speeds are then enjoyed by us and our customers alike. We take pride in the high quality of the products that we produce making it essential that our plastic extrusion tooling is also of high quality and well designed. Our technical expertise often leaves us without competition where the extra time taken to develop and produce high specification tooling puts us in the position of being market innovators and leaders.
TOURING CARAVAN PROFILES
TOURING CARAVAN PROFILES PLASTIC EXTRUSION DESIGN – Years of experience has taught us to listen to our customers and in doing so we have created many industry leading designs. Designs such as these extruded touring caravan locker profiles, this project needed to combine market leading aesthetic design whilst delivering a weight saving that would allow the caravan manufacturer to add luxuries such as air conditioning into the caravans. The completed design not only for filed the brief but also produced an over all cost down by using less material than its predecessor and time saved on assembly. Rigid PVC, metallic polymers and paper wrap wood grain finishes were all included to produce these market leading extruded profiles.
SKINNING TECHNOLOGY
PLASTIC EXTRUSIONS SKINNING TECHNOLOGY – Need a premium finish or premium performance but not the premium price! PAL Extrusions now offer a type of co-extrusion that allows the skinning of a lower grade polymer with more advanced grade polymer. Applications for this technology include the skinning of recycled plastics with virgin grade polymers, creating enhanced aesthetic appearances and extra performance. The simplest benefit could be to skin a white compound with a more expensive colour reducing the overall cost. PAL Extrusions use this technology where products meet demanding environments such as components manufactured for its Fensys range, where applications are outdoors and UV resistance is an important feature. The wide reaching benefits of this extrusion technology will no doubt find its place in many markets and plastics applications over the next few years.

APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR
APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR PAL GROUP TOOLROOM ENGINEER. Pictured here Daniel Cope one of the PAL Groups rising bright stars, accepting the Express and Stars ‘Apprentice of year award’. Dazed and happy at his success Daniel said “This is brilliant , I’m over the moon”. Daniel further went on to pay tribute to his work colleagues and in particular the inspiration from Denis Toone the tool room manager whom one day he hopes to replace when Denis retires. Daniel began his pre-apprenticeship program in April 2013 and after showing a strong work ethic was offered a full-time apprenticeship in September 2013, he quickly became part of the team and worked hard to complete his NVQ and Technical certificate, so competent was Daniel he even helped other learners by sharing his knowledge. The staff at PAL Group have spent a great deal of time mentoring Daniel in a very complex industry his confidence has grown and not content with encouraging his own girlfriend to join, Daniel has become an ambassador for apprenticeships and has been involved in several media campaigns, including meeting the Duke of York. “Well done and keep up the good work Daniel”.
DEVELOPMENT OF GLAZING EXTRUSIONS
DEVELOPMENT OF GLAZING EXTRUSIONS. Pal Glazing Products recently sampled a newly developed extruded flexible gasket after developing the product and manufacturing the tooling in only 2 weeks. The client was so pleased with the level of commitment and the exceptional turn around speed, they subsequently rewarded PAL Glazing a new substantial contract for secondary double glazing window system profiles. Steve Pearson ‘ Glazing Extrusions Sales Manager ‘ commented that ‘in working closely with the client and understanding the importance of delivering the initial project in double fast time, the customers confidence in our capabilities went through the roof, especially after another manufacturer had already attempted and struggled to deliver. Our glazing extrusions division continues to grow stronger adding new features and materials to an already well established product base. Standard glazing extrusion materials now include Flexible PVC, Vacron, TPR, TPV, Santoprene, PVC Nitrile, Crystal PVC and EPDM.’
WRAPPING PLASTIC EXTRUSION
WRAPPED & FOILED PLASTIC EXTRUSION FINISHES- Following market trends towards ever higher specification finishes, PAL Extrusions have developed plastic extrusions that can be wrapped or foiled with printed and or embossed papers and polymer films. Hot stamped foils can be applied as part of the extrusion process providing internal grade wood and metallic finishes, these have proven very popular for shutter and furniture profile customers. Polymer based foiled finishes can also be wrapped onto profiles giving textured outdoor grade high aesthetics, this process utilises the same wood grain finished materials as the UPVC plastic window industry. We also offer paper wrapped extruded profiles, paper wrapped finishes not only emulate the colour of wood, leather and material surfaces but are also embossed to match. So what ever the application we have the finish.
